Vorfreude: Opern-Picknick in Auerbach erleben!

Oh man, ich freu mich schon total! This weekend? Opern-Picknick in Auerbach. Just thinking about it makes my stomach do flips. You know that feeling, right? That Vorfreude, that delicious anticipation? It's almost better than the actual event sometimes! Almost. 😉

Last year, I totally bombed it. I mean, totally. I thought, "Oh, Opern-Picknick, how hard can it be?" I packed a picnic basket with, like, everything. A whole roast chicken, a mountain of potato salad, enough bread rolls to feed a small army. It was a disaster. The chicken was lukewarm by the time we got there, the potato salad was kinda…mushy. And the ants? Don't even get me started on the ants. I learned my lesson. Hard.

Pro-Tipp #1: Pack Smart, Pack Light!

This year? Different story. This year, I'm all about the smart packing. Think finger foods, people! Mini quiches, wraps, maybe some fruit skewers. Things that don't require cutlery or refrigeration – or that will survive a little bit of warmth! And I’m definitely investing in a good picnic blanket, one that's waterproof and comfy. Last year's damp, sandy blanket was not a vibe.

Location, Location, Location!

Auerbach itself offers some fantastic spots for an Opern-Picknick. I’ve been researching like crazy, and I found some amazing places close to the venue with stunning views. Near the Schlosspark, for example, is a beautiful spot with plenty of shade. Or maybe a little further out towards the vineyards – a picnic with a view! You’ll want to get there early to claim your perfect spot. Seriously, this is not a joke. People are serious about their Opern-Picknick real estate.

I'm also thinking about bringing a portable speaker – a small, discreet one. Just enough to play some pre-opera tunes to set the mood. But only something subtle; we don't want to compete with the opera itself! Think classical vibes, not a full-blown rave.

Don't forget the essentials, people! Sunscreen is a must, even on a cloudy day. And something to keep the bugs away – maybe some citronella candles. Oh, and a blanket, I mentioned that already, right? A really good one. A comfy, sturdy blanket is essential.

The Opera Itself: What to Expect

Of course, the opera itself is the main event! I'm particularly excited about the production this year. I’ve read several reviews already – the staging sounds phenomenal and the singers are incredible. I’ll likely download the libretto beforehand to make sure I don’t miss a single word (and to impress my friends 😉). This year, I want to really experience it – not just survive my disastrous picnic attempt!

This time, I'm going to be super organized. I’m even making a checklist. Because, let's be honest, being prepared is half the battle.
