Tatort Dortmund: ARD-Feiertagskrimi Review – A Binge-Watcher's Take
Hey everyone! So, I recently devoured the latest Tatort Dortmund – the ARD Feiertagskrimi – and, wow, what a ride! I'm a huge crime drama fan, especially the German kind, and this one really hit the spot, even though, ahem, I almost fell asleep during one part. Let's dive in, shall we?
The Good, the Bad, and the Slightly Boring
First off, let's talk about the acting. The leads, Faber and Boerne (I always forget their real names, sorry!), were, as usual, top-notch. Their chemistry is what keeps me coming back for more. Their banter is chef's kiss! I mean, seriously, their interactions are some of the best parts of the show. You know, the kind of witty back-and-forth that makes you laugh out loud, even when the case is, you know, murder.
But this episode...it had its ups and downs. The plot was kinda convoluted at times; it took me a while to really grasp what was going on. There were so many twists and turns, I actually had to rewind a couple of times, and let's be honest, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes.
The Case: A Bit Too Complicated?
The central mystery itself was…well, it was there. It involved, if I remember correctly (I'm getting old!), some kind of art heist, a double-cross, and maybe a secret society? Don’t quote me on that though, I’ve watched a lot of crime shows lately and they all start blending together sometimes. It was certainly intricate, but honestly, parts felt a little drawn out. I almost reached for the remote to fast-forward, which is a cardinal sin in my binge-watching experience.
What Worked (and What Didn't)
One thing I really appreciated was the setting. Dortmund itself always plays such a great role in the show. The gritty realism of the city is a key part of the atmosphere. You know, those dingy bars, the cobblestone streets – it all adds to the overall feel of the show. We got to see some new locations this time too, which was a nice change of pace.
However, the pacing was uneven. Some scenes dragged on, while others felt rushed. That’s my biggest complaint. I felt like they could have tightened things up a bit, you know? Maybe cut some of the less important scenes and really focus on the core mystery. Or, you know, maybe give Boerne more screen time - he's my favorite! (Sorry, Faber fans!)
Technical Aspects: Solid, But Not Spectacular
Technically, the show was well-produced. The cinematography was solid, the sound design was good – nothing too flashy, but it definitely did the job. I didn't notice any glaring technical issues, which is always a plus, right? My only issue would be that sometimes the lighting made it a bit hard to see some scenes, especially when they filmed at night.
Final Verdict: Worth a Watch?
Overall, the latest Tatort Dortmund Feiertagskrimi was a decent watch, It wasn’t their best episode, but it wasn’t their worst either. If you’re a fan of the series, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're new to Tatort, it might be a good starting point but maybe start with some of the older ones first. It's certainly not something I'd rewatch immediately, but hey, I’ll probably forget most of the details anyways so it’s fine to revisit in a few months or so. Three out of five stars from this armchair detective!
