Wow! I'm still buzzing from the sheer generosity shown during the Ö3-Rekordspende! Seriously, you guys are amazing. I mean, the final total? Mind-blowing. I've been involved with charity events before, smaller ones mostly, bake sales and the like, but nothing on this scale. This was a whole other level.

This year’s Ö3-Rekordspende was, without a doubt, the biggest and most successful yet! The energy, the passion, the sheer volume of donations… it was overwhelming in the best possible way. I remember sitting there, glued to the radio, refreshing the donation website every few minutes. The numbers just kept climbing and climbing. It was seriously addictive! I even forgot to make dinner!

My Little Part (and a Huge Learning Curve)

I volunteered this year, mainly because my niece, she's a huge Ö3 fan, practically forced me to. "Onkel," she said, "you have to help!" And honestly? She was right. Initially, I was a bit nervous. I'm not exactly known for my organizational skills; let’s just say my filing system could use some serious work.

I was mainly responsible for manning a phone line – taking donations, answering questions, offering words of encouragement and basically acting like a cheerleader for the cause. It was crazy busy, phones ringing off the hook – but also incredibly rewarding. Every single call, every single donation, was a testament to the kindness of strangers.

There was one call I’ll never forget; a woman donated her entire savings – a sum that was smaller than some others, but to her? It must have been everything. It completely changed my perspective about everything, seriously.

This whole experience was a huge learning curve. I learned a thing or two about running a successful charity drive. So here are some things I picked up, things that can help you if you want to get involved, whether it's with the Ö3-Rekordspende or another charity:
